In order to register with the HSBC UK Go-Ride programme, clubs must have at least one qualified British Cycling coach to deliver regular sessions that are varied, enjoyable and engaging for young riders.

What training is available for coaches?

British Cycling’s comprehensive coach education programme provides a flexible pathway of progression for coaches. Whether you are interested in coaching beginners or performance orientated riders, we can help you to achieve your coaching ambitions.

  • Level 1: The foundation coach award is the starting point for your coaching journey in cycling
  • Level 2: For coaches who have experience of delivering independent coaching sessions to groups of people
  • Level 2 Discipline Specific: These awards, one for each of the six British Cycling disciplines, are for qualified Level 2 coaches who are either new to a specific discipline or who want to develop their existing knowledge further.
  • Level 3: The Level 3 qualification is for coaches who want to have the ability and knowledge to plan, deliver and evaluate detailed periodised training programmes for individual riders within a specific discipline.

What additional support is available for coaches?

We operate a bursary scheme, which is open to all Go-Ride Clubs and will provide £120 towards the cost of two Level 1 coaching qualifications, or £150 towards the cost of a Level 2 coaching qualification per year.
