I have recently moved to North Yorkshire from Reading where I was lead track coach for Palmer Park Velo (youth-junior riders) and coached both groups from beginner - national standard and individual riders.
Experience:
With individual riders have experience of Coaching riders up-to the following levels:
- National Road Series (Female)
- UCI Elite Female Road events (e.g. Gent-Wevelgem; Le Samyn des Dames ;Tour de l'Ardeche)
- National Track Champs (Youth/Junior & Senior) - endurance & sprint events
- Pan-American Track Champs - Barbados Team coach
- World Track Championships (2019, 2021) Barbados Team coach

Coaching methods
I like to use power & HR in training specifications. With initial athlete testing via Wattbike or KickR/Neo to develop a power profile. I prefer to use Training Peaks for program specification, but can also use "Today's Plan" or other platforms. But I am also happy to coach riders on a lower tech basis using Word/Excel/Google sheets. I am used to coaching at a distance, but it is essential to have some face-to-face initially and intermittently, but this can be via Zoom/MSTeams etc.
I am also a Trustee for Bikeability Trust which oversees the DfT program of cycle training for young riders: https://bikeability.org.uk/
My shortcomings
Probably just as important as the stuff above:
- I know nothing about BMX, MTB or XC and although I like racing Cyclocross I wouldn't claim my meagre skills qualify me for coaching CX either.
- My past focus has been on youth riders and/or female riders, but I am much less familiar with the National/Elite Male RR scene and as I like to feel I am giving riders the best advice I normally decline requests to coach Senior Male riders.
