2009 UCI Paracycling World Road Championships
Intro: The Great Britain Cycling team start the World Road Championships on Thursday 10th of September. The four day event includes road time trials and road races for all categories, with the Great Britain team having a wealth of experience from previous World Championships and Paralympic Games, as well as some new faces in the largest team Great Britain has sent to a major Paracycling Road Championships.
Report - Day 4 Morning Great Britain had a fantastic start to Day 4 with 2 gold medals, the first for Sarah Storey in the LC1 Women's road race and the second for Darren Kenny in the CP3 Men's road race, which saw some top teamwork from Rik Waddon.
Report - Day 4 Afternoon The final race of the Paracycling World Road Race Championships with Great Britain representation was the VI Tandem Women's road race, with Silver medallists from the road time trial Ellen Hunter and Aileen McGlynn, plus our development tandem Rebecca Rimmington and Lora Turnham going for GB.
Report - Day 3 Day 3 of the World Road Champs was always going to be a tough day for Great Britain, with all the riders facing tough categories and the racing was going to be fast and furious. Russ White produced the ride of the day, almost pulling off victory in the super fast Men's LC1 category road race in a break, but ultimately missing out. We have a full round up of the day's action.
Report - Day 2 Morning Great Britain had a great start to the morning session on Day 2 in Bogogno. David Stone kicked off by winning a silver medal in the CP2 Men's Road Time Trial and Sarah Storey then followed up with the team's first gold, also in the time trial. We have the full story, including results, rider feedback and images. Now updated with news of Sarah's crash earlier in the week!
Report - Day 2 Afternoon More medals came GB's way in the afternoon with Darren Kenny and Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter all making the podium. We have a full round up of another busy and successful session of racing for the team.
Report - Day 1 - There were no medals for GB on day 1 of the championships, but gutsy performances from Rob Wickham, Rachel Morris, Simon Richardson and Russ White meant that there was much to be satified about back at the Team's hotel. We have a full report of the day's time trials from Barney Storey, plus results and images.
Preview: Barney Storey looks ahead to four days of competition with some big names in action for GB.
