The Level 2 Cyclo-Cross Coaching Award is a two-day course aimed at coaches new to cyclo-cross coaching who have gained coaching experience from the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cycling, and for existing cyclo-cross coaches wishing to develop their existing knowledge.
The course provides coaches with the tools to be able to develop their own technical understanding of cyclo-cross and associated techniques, with a focus on analysing and developing their riders’ technical performance.
The knowledge gained from this award will allow you to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of safe, ethical and effective cyclo-cross coaching sessions.
The award will also give you all of the necessary skills and information you need to progress riders from their first Cyclo-cross session to their first competition and is the minimum requirement for the delivery of Go-Ride Cyclo-cross Gears 5 and 6.
The course covers a wide variety of topics including:
- Creating a cyclo-cross coaching environment.
- Developing technical knowledge of cyclo-cross techniques.
- Improving technical performance of riders.
- Advising riders on bike set-up.
- Progressing technical performance.
Coaches are assessed through a 15 minute coaching session delivered on day two of the course, followed by the completion of an assessment workbook and the delivery of six one hour cyclo-cross specific coaching sessions post course.
How much does the award cost?
The course costs £250. There may be some financial assistance available via our funding pages.
NB. Full course payment is required on point of application.
