British Cycling has today launched its new elearning platform, which will support the ongoing development of learners and volunteers across all cycling disciplines and activities.

The launch heralds a new era of digital learning for the organisation and has been accelerated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic – following on from the hugely successful webinar series which has been delivered since April, and which has so far engaged over 6,000 coaches, leaders and instructors.

The new Learning Management System (LMS), named British Cycling Learning, is powered by Docebo, one of the market leaders in elearning. British Cycling Learning has been piloted with British Cycling, Scottish Cycling and Welsh Cycling staff, as well as the nationwide tutor workforce, and will initially launch for a select number of courses from September. In addition to this, from today several new Continuing Personal Development (CPD) courses have also been launched with offers for clubs and coaches.

Docebo allows for a ‘modular delivery’ of courses, which means that if learners have completed a module in one course, such as coaching, they will not need to then repeat that same content on another. This will greatly improve the learner experience and is in response to feedback from existing learners, volunteers and tutors.

British Cycling’s Head of Education, Simon Hibbert, said:

“We scoured the market for the best platform available to meet the needs of learners and deliver a truly blended learning experience. We tested several systems and Docebo was a clear leader in several areas, including ease of use, visual appearance, adaptability, and a rewarding learning experience.

“Volunteers have consistently told us that they want to see more investment in their development, and we know that learners are much more likely to both take and pass a course if they can complete at least part of it online. I’m sure that the new platform will be well received by learners and we’re already looking forward to developing our offer further in the months and years ahead.”

The four CPD courses being launched today are:
