Great Britain Cycling Team’s Iain Paton was 32nd in the under-23 men’s cross-country race at the final round round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Andorra.

The 21-year-old Senior Academy rider was gridded 39th at the start of the 25.2 km race which took in six laps of the course in Vallnord on Sunday.

Paton worked his way up through the field to cross the line in 1:27:35 as Switzerland’s Marcel Guerrini won in 1:19:50.

Last 17th in elite women's race

The elite women’s race saw Britain’s Annie Last finish 17th riding for Novus OMX Pro Team as Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff took the victory.

Also competing over 25.2km, 25-year-old Last completed the race in 1:41:15, nine minutes and 43 seconds behind Neff.

The result means London Olympian Last finishes 35th overall in the world cup on 224 points.

Isla Short, also of Novus OMX Pro Team, was 15th in the under-23 women's race. The Scot was pulled out of the race with one lap remaining due to the 80% rule.

Frustration for Ferguson

Rio Olympian Grant Ferguson was pulled out of the elite men’s race with three laps to go of the seven.

French two-time Olympic champion Julien Absalon, 36, won to take the overall series victory in his final UCI Mountain Bike World Cup race.
