Kath’s outline profile

Kath qualified as a British Cycling Coach in 2003, and since then has coached many riders, from novices to amateur world championship riders.

She started club cycling at 16, mainly long-distance touring then started racing seriously when she was 26. Her main disciplines were Time Trials (all distances) & she has won open events at 10 miles & 24hrs. Kath also holds a number of Regional & National RRA records (Road Records Association) from 25 to 100miles+ she has also competed in road races and track events.

Following a serious accident Kath had to undergo several knee operations. She had to learn to walk again and thus understands the frustration of inability to train whilst injured. She used mental strategies to stay positive during the long process of recovery.

Her emphasis now is on Coaching riders, but she still enjoys events that will challenge her physically and mentally TTs, triathlon, swimming, rowing, trail runs & enjoys mountain biking.

As a full time, Kath loves coaching riders and gets a real buzz from seeing 'her' riders develop, and achieve their goals.

This means that in addition to prescribing focused training Kath is qualified to help riders with mental preparation, nutrition and off the bike training.

Requirements of riders 

Although it is helpful to have a power meter or means to measure power in training, these are still relatively expensive and not affordable to everyone. Therefore, is not an essential requirement for riders Kath coaches. She does however require riders to have;
