British Cycling workshops

We have developed a range of CPD workshops to help all of our qualified coaches develop in specific areas of participation, talent and performance. The workshops align with our coaching pathway and should hopefully help you to develop and expand your potential as a coach.

GB Sport

GB Sport specialise in providing business and IT support to those working in a sporting environment and deliver an excellent range of workshops. Their ESSENTIALS series of training courses are held throughout Britain all year round covering essential business information such as legal status, self-employment, staffing, insurance, marketing and bookkeeping.

Thanks to an agreement between British Cycling and GB Sport, Level 3 Coaches can access the workshops for a discounted price of £30 (as opposed to £48) for courses held at the National Cycling Centre. Simply mention your status as a qualified British Cycling coach when booking.

Similarly, all British Cycling coaches are entitled to 10% off all GB Sport workshops, no matter where they are held.

Sports Coach UK

As a UK-registered charity, sports coach UK are inspired by the belief that good sports coaches not only enhance sporting experiences, but increase and sustain active lifestyles too.

They actively work with National Governing Bodies such as British Cycling to recruit, develop and retain a network of coaches and provide a wide range of CPD opportunities for coaches looking to broaden their knowledge across a range of topics.

UKAD – Coach Clean

UK Anti-Doping, Sports Coach UK and Coachwise Ltd have been working in partnership to develop ‘Coach Clean’, an interactive e-learning programme designed for Level 2 Coaches. The programme aims to provide all lead club coaches with essential anti-doping information to coach athletes to be clean and stay clean.

Coaches undertaking their UK Coach Clean Level 2 can use this e-learning programme as evidence against the anti-doping criteria in their qualification. The e-learning module covers:

  • Doping-free sport.
  • The role of WADA and UK Anti-Doping.
  • Good practice
  • Testing procedures
  • The health, social and physical consequences of doping.

Strength and Conditioning (S&C) plays a critical role in a balanced training programme for cyclists, underpinning the development of strength and power. Fundamental movement patterns are developed and reinforced and there is significant evidence for the prevention of injury through an appropriate and routine S&C programme.

The UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) is a membership organisation that was established to develop and maintain high professional standards for UK strength and conditioning.

Practitioners and to promote and disseminate good practice, knowledge and research appropriate to strength & conditioning practitioners.
