British Cycling is pleased to offer new and existing learners with funding support. There are several funding streams available, including for young people, women and girls, inclusive clubs and open bursary pots too, which are all accessible by application.

How to Apply - Flying Start, Ignite & Regional Delivery Bursaries

Application is through expression of interest via your national or regional contact:–

If successful, you will be sent a private link to book on the course of your choice.


Flying Start Bursary

This is a bursary pot specifically for young people (14-21), offering discounts of up to 70% off coaching courses for those that are supporting cycling activity, either in club, school or community. To access this bursary, young people will need to demonstrate prior learning – in England, such as having completed the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers, or in all home nations school leaders or young leaders qualifications will be accepted. 50% of available bursaries are reserved for girls and women.

Successful Flying Start bursary applicants can access the following courses at the discounted rates:

Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cycling - £95 (reduced from £275)

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cycling - £195 (reduced from £395)

Level 2 Discipline Specific Awards - £95 (reduced from £225)

Ignite Bursary

This is a bursary pot specifically for women and girls, offering discounts of up to 55% off coaching, ride leadership and MTB Leadership courses for women and girls supporting British Cycling activity, including clubs, programmes and events, or with intentions to support.

Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cycling - £150 (reduced from £275)

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cycling - £225 (reduced from £395)

Fundamentals of MTB Leadership - TBC (reduced from £205-£275)

Regional Delivery Bursary

A regionally controlled £5,000 pot (£500 per region) offering discounts of £100 to against any education course.

Club Delivery Bursary

This is a bursary pot designed to support, retain and grow club activity and linked programmes. £100.00 discount on any formal coaching qualification will be available through application. Applicants will be required to have a current and/or future commitment to directly support coaching activity within affiliated club and linked progammes.

Linked programmes include:

-        Talent Development Centres

-        Regional and National Schools of Racing

-        Go-Ride Holiday Coaching Programme

Inclusive Clubs funding

This is a discount for private course bookings for clubs that can demonstrably prove they are supporting the drive to improve diversity and inclusion in cycling.

Requirements

Clubs will need to allocate 50% of places to under represented groups in cycling, including female, black, Asian, minority ethnic, LGBQT+ cyclists or cyclists with a disability in order to access a 25% discount off full course costs. Clubs can currently access a 15% discount on full course costs if booking a private course and the Inclusive clubs funding enhances this by 10%.

The Offer

Level 1 coaching: £1,650  – equal to £206 pp

Level 2 coaching: £2,550 – equal to £319 pp

Ride Leadership Award Level 1 - £945 - equal to £94.50 pp
