About our club
Club Mission Statement
1) We provide a welcoming , friendly and safe environment for members to ride together in groups both for social riding and to support those in pursuit of personal goals
2) We are predominantly a road cycling group for people from the Collingham area, however all types of cycling are encouraged
3) Our core offerings are a regular Wednesday night no drop ride with a social get together at the end, and a range of pre-planned and ad-hoc weekend/weekday evening rides.
4) We provide a social media platform for members to build connections and share rides and events with others
5) We advocate safe cycling, ensuring riders in our groups are as safe as possible and also showing care and consideration to other road users
Collingham Velo Club (CVC) is a friendly club for all types of cycling enthusiasts. Predominantly our rides are ‘Road’ based but occasionally we run off road/cross events. We focus on running group rides around the Countryside near the village. We regularly ride though the easy riding flat villages around Lincs and Notts border and at the weekends we often travel a little further to take in the odd climb. Add into the mix the chance to socialise with like minded people and you have got the perfect combination.
Rides are usually organised by members who know the routes and help keep things organised and safe. We cater for varying levels of fitness and you are welcome to come along and try a ride before deciding whether to join the club. All you need is a road-worthy bike and a helmet. As a general rule of thumb – being able to ride at an average of 16mph is a good starting point.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Request to join via our Facebook group page – as long as one other person supports your application – you are in ! If you are new to the area – don’t worry you are still welcome, come along on one of the rides and see if it is for you. Membership is free - we review members once a year based on recent participation and commitment.

WHEN DO WE RIDE?
On Wednesday nights (6.45 start) we run a weekly social ride. In the winter this is usually around 25 miles and often extends to 35 miles in the summer. If there are more than 6 riders we will normally split into 2 groups. Riders are expected to come with lights. Traditionally we will stop for a drink at the end of the ride at one Collingham’s great drink stops – The Royal Oak, The Kings Head, The Cricket or Football Club. Once a month we have a ‘food night’ where we enjoy a snack at the end of the evening too.
During the summer other evening rides get promoted on our Facebook page
Weekends – experienced members are all welcome to publish rides and invite people to come along. A couple of ride slots for the coming weekend are normally agreed over a drink at the end of the Wednesday social ride. Weekend rides include 25 milers but also some longer events up to 100 miles, especially in the summer. Rides will nearly always include a café stop.
We take cycle safety seriously and we ride in an organised pack.
SPORTIVES and RACES
Although we are predominantly a social cycle club, a number of members enjoy more competitive events from time to time, such as the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive. We also enter members into local TT events with other clubs.
TOURS
We regularly organise tours which prove very popular. We have recently been on tours to Yorkshire, Norfolk and the Pyrenees.
