About our club

Fife Cycle Speedway is a registered Scottish Charity - SCO47998 and is the most Northern Cycle Speedway club in Britain.

Cycle Speedway is regarded as an intense cycle sport, races are short - usually four laps of an outdoor 70-90m or a 50m indoor track, lasting around 35-40 seconds - and physical contact is both legal and often necessary. Tracks are marked out using cones. Four riders contest a race, usually in pairs from opposing clubs.

Cycle Speedway is a club sport, with inter-club matches within leagues the mainstay of the sport. Each match normally consists of between sixteen and twenty races.

Top riders are explosive sprinters - but they also have stamina to enable them to keep going through a long match. Skill levels are high with slick starting, cornering and passing techniques essential. Strength is also required during contact with other riders. As contact is expected, riders wear additional protection such as knee, elbow and hip pads.

Fife Cycle Speedway are located at Queen Anne High School, Dunfermline and race on the newest cycle speedway track in Britain and home of only the 3rd track in Scotland.
