About our club
Sutton Cycling Club is a friendly youth / junior cycling club for young people aged 5 -18. Adult membership is restricted to parents, coaches and officials. Activities listed under "What We Do" are geared to our young members, not adults.
Weekly Go-Ride sessions on Saturdays at our base in Cheam are supplemented with training on weekday evenings for members who want to race. (We are hoping to build up the numbers of children racing to pre-pandemic levels, when we had around 20 children racing in the London Cyclo-cross League, from Under 8s to Juniors, and some at the Crystal Palace Crits.) In normal times, there is winter cyclo-cross training at David Weir Leisure Centre (formerly Sutton Arena). In the summer, it is mountain bike training at our base in Cheam, and road at DWLC.
We try to hold the occasional Saturday session at Cyclopark in Gravesend, when the children can choose MTB, or Road on the traffic-free road circuit there. Awaydays are sometimes organised, to MTB venues such as Swinley or Bedgebury forests. There are also opportunities to ride track and to try BMX.
As the Club is run entirely by volunteers, we encourage parents to help, particularly when we take the children on rides out.
