About our club
History:
Formed in 1967, the East Lancs RC is one of Rochdale’s oldest Cycle Racing Clubs, which has trained individuals to Divisional & National Standard
Affiliations:
The East Lancs is affiliated to British Cycling, Cycling Time Trials, and the Manchester & District Time Trials Association.
Competitive Events:
East Lancs riders participate at all levels in Road Racing, Time Trialling, Cyclo Cross, Hill Climbs and Triathlons
Social Ride Calendar:
Differing grades of Club Runs are held on a Saturday and Sunday, involving a fast paced “A” Ride, a medium paced “B” Ride and a relaxed “C” Grade Ride. We also hold weekly "D" rides suitable for beginners and those returning to the sport
Reliability Ride Programme:
Every year the Club organises a series of rides over 50 mile, 100 mile, 150 mile, 250 mile and the 7,000ft plus hill climbs, freewheel and slow bike events to illustrate bike control.
Holidays & Tours:
Every year the Club holds a number of weekends away and a European tour
Social Scene:
An active social scene involves Weekly Club Meetings, Riders Dinner, Presidents rides and an Annual Dinner, plus other sundry events
Membership Profile:
We are a friendly open club with all ages and both sexes welcome.
We have approximately 120 members aged between 12 yrs and 80 yrs old, including many junior members, plus a Women's Group to encourage female cyclists.
