About our club
We are a friendly local cycling club for Teesdale based in Barnard Castle, with a racing based outlook covering all aspects of the sport.
Teesdale CRC was formed in 1996 by local riders, around the Teesdale Mountain Time Trial which celebrated it’s 25th Anniversary in April 2015.
Arguably the toughest Time Trial on the CTT calendar, 40 miles over Bollihope Common from Barnard Castle to Stanhope and back, with 1536 metres (over 5000 ft) of climbing. Part of the return leg follows the route of the old Vaux Trophy, professional road race, still remembered fondly by the likes of Barry Hoban and Colin Lewis.
The club hosted the North of England Cyclo-X Championships in 2011, has a strong cyclo-x background, and is active in the CXNE league.
XC mountain biking has also always been part of the club activities. Hamsterley Forest is located in Teesdale, and its continued expansion gives the club a fantastic facility on our doorstep, alongside the moorland riding in the dale.
The club has a Saturday morning club ride from Barnard Castle, most weekends.
Come a join us.
