NCRA Spring Handicap RR #6

Story posted April 12; Dave Birch (Race Organiser)

A full field of 60 riders contested the 6th and final round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Spring Handicap Series. The race was over six laps of the five mile Chelveston circuit, a course not used for several years. Warm and calm conditions as well as a flat circuit made for fast riding with the winner completing the race in 1.22.09.

All of the field except the scratch group came together on the final lap to produce a bunch finish where the winner was junior rider Sam Brogan of Leicestershire Road Club, followed by Martin Jones of Fenland Clarion and Anthony Spencer of Sub7Bikes.co.uk RT.

The series winner was Matt Garfield. The highest placed junior in the series was Sam Brogan and the first lady was Alison Lilley of Kings Cliffe Flyers. The team prize was won by the Welland Valley team of Tom Sexton, John Taylor and Vic Barnett.
