With the 2011 Mountain Bike World Cup in Yorkshire's Dalby Forest drawing ever closer, British Cycling has launched the official event website and with it more detail about all the exciting elements that make this the biggest date on the British Cross-Country Mountain Biking calendar.

Fresh from receiving recognition as the ‘best Cross-Country round' of 2010, the second round of the 2011 UCI Mountain Bike Cross Country World Cup comes to Dalby Forest in Yorkshire on 20-22 May for a weekend of jam-packed Mountain Bike action.

What's On?

An enthusiastic crowd is expected to descend on the town of Pickering for the return of urban style street racing in the Pro Sprint Eliminator, which kicks off the action on Friday night (20 May), before the weekend culminates on Sunday (22 May) with the main showdown; the Elite Rounds of the World Cup. Saturday once again sees the juniors kick off the competition in the forest whilst for the first time the Under 23 men will compete separately from the elites with their race adding a further incentive to attend the World Cup on the Saturday.

If all that is still not enough to whet the appetite, there's the chance to ride Dalby Dare, a mass participation ride across sections of the award winning World Cup course. Don't forget that riders who enter the Dalby Dare get a weekend ticket to the whole World Cup for free! Dixons Dare, a race for the younger generation also takes place as a prelude to the racing on Saturday.

British Cycling Members' Discounts & More

British Cycling Members can get an exclusive 20% discount off tickets by visiting Ticketmaster and are able to watch all the action from the best seat in the house in their own ‘Members Area' whist claiming a whole load of event goodies, courtesy of British Cycling. They just need to bring along a membership card on the day to take advantage of these great offers.

Live Coverage

Both the Elite men's and women's races will be broadcast live on Freecaster, covering all of the action from round two of the World Cup.

British Cycling Reaction

British Cycling's Cycle Sport and Membership Director Jonny Clay is hoping to build on the success of 2010's inaugural event. He said: "We're delighted to be once again taking the Mountain Bike World Cup to Yorkshire. The racing is only one aspect of what will be both a thrilling and entertaining few days.

"Elite racing and events such as the Dalby Dare and Pro Sprint Eliminator were a massive hit last year and they are a great way for us to get more people of all ages into cycling themselves, whether for fun, fitness or transport.

"By continuing to stage elite level events that have set the highest standard as we did here last year and developing world-class facilities, such as the Dalby Forest course at the same time, we are providing future generations of cyclists in Britain with opportunities to compete for international glory at World and Olympic level on home turf."
