Anyone involved in cycling will know that it simply would not happen without thousands of volunteers providing their time, care, expertise and commitment.
With Volunteers’ Week taking place from the 1st – 7th June, we at British Cycling wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks to the huge range of people who make our sport happen, and give their time in so many ways.
Following on from the success of last year’s initiative, we will once again be spearheading the #cyclingsaysthanks campaign leading up to and throughout Volunteers’ Week.
We want to celebrate volunteering in all its diversity. Whatever contribution people make to cycling, whether it’s giving up a couple of hours to marshal at a local race, helping with sign-on at a local club or being a friendly face at a HSBC UK Let’s Ride pop up, we want to hear about it.
Do you want to say thank you to an inspirational individual, or group that makes a real difference? Or recognise some of the amazing work carried out by volunteers at the grassroots?
All you need to do to say thank you, and for them to be in with a chance of winning a special gift from us, is nominate them here or tweet @BritishCycling with their name, volunteer role and a couple of words on the amazing work they have done, using the hashtag #cyclingsaysthanks.
They could then be in with a chance of winning a prize, ranging from tickets to a major event to a thank you message from one of the Great Britain Cycling Team riders.
Keep an eye on our social media channels during Volunteers’ week to see if your nomination has been shared.
Volunteering can help participants gain valuable new skills and experiences, and boost your confidence. With so many different volunteer roles on offer, there’s something for everyone. If you would like to get involved in volunteering you can register your interest here.
