We catch up with British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme BMX riders Dan McBride for the latest instalment of his blog. As part of his overall development plan, Dan is on a work experience programme at Bauer Millett in Manchester, a specialist Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Chrysler Jeep, Chevrolet and Cadillac dealer.
This week was my first time at the new Bauer Millett garage. The premises are a great deal bigger with 11 ramps instead of just four at the old garage. This has allowed them to take on a lot more work.
They now have the parts and cleaning centre all at the same facility which is a much more effective method of getting everything working together.
I was busy working on a brand new fiat 500 Abarth. I had to check and make sure everything worked as it should and then add the new extras the new owner requested. This included a sports exhaust with a new valve. This controls the exhaust pressures to give it a better sound when accelerating but lower noise when driving steadily.
We then plugged in the computer to do all the checks and to make sure the rest of the car was running smoothly.
