British Cycling has today announced the team of seven riders who will take to the start line of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic on 4th August in Great Britain Cycling Team colours.

Senior academy riders Ethan Hayter and Matt Walls, who both looked in great form at the Giro Ciclistico d'Italia last month, will be joined by UCI Professional Continental riders Connor Swift and Scott Thwaites along with Gabz Cullaigh, James Shaw and Tom Stewart.

Matt Brammeier, endurance coach for the Great Britain Cycling Team, said: “RideLondon provides us with a brilliant opportunity to bring members of the national team together ahead of the worlds and it also gives our senior academy riders the experience of competing in a WorldTour one day race which year on year attracts some of the world’s best riders.

“Ethan and Matt have both had a great season on the road so far, most recently at the ‘Baby Giro’ where they both took stage wins and Ethan came away with the points jersey. I’ll be looking for them to keep building on what they’ve achieved and to take advantage of being on the same team as Scott, who has experience of riding at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana.

“We’ve got a good team who I think will work together well in the race, so I think we stand a chance of getting a good result. RideLondon is a race I always look forward to because of the quality of racing and the home crowds, so it should be a great day.”
