Luke Cryer wins UCI Four cross Mountain Bike World Championships bronze for Great Britain

Great Britain Cycling Team’s Luke Cryer won bronze at the UCI Four cross Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy.

A three-man crash in the final involving Cryer, Barry Nobles and Hannes Slavik left Mitja Ergaver of Slovenia to take the world title unchallenged across the line.

For 20-year-old Cryer, who qualified eighth fastest, the medal is a second at the championships having won silver in 2015.

Scott Beaumont won the small final to take fifth overall, having qualified in third, while Duncan Ferris was 12th exiting in the quarter-finals.

In the women’s contest, Britain’s Hannah Escott was 12th as Australia’s Caroline Buchanan won her fourth world title in the discipline.
