Sixteen years ago, a British Olympic legacy began in Australia.

The Dunc Gray Velodrome in Sydney played host to Sir Bradley Wiggins’ Games debut. The then 20-year-old won bronze in the team pursuit to begin a 16-year Olympic odyssey, set for its final chapter in Brazil this month.

Seven Olympic medals from Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London, four of them gold, Wiggins is on the verge of history in Rio de Janeiro as he could become the most decorated British Olympian of all time.

Sir Bradley spoke exclusively to British Cycling at the Team GB holding camp in Newport and talked about the significance of being selected for his fifth Olympics and his pride at representing his country, in the first part of our extended interview.
