Great Britain Cycling Team’s Tao Geoghegan Hart delivered a fantastic second place at the Course de la Paix following three days of consistent riding in the Czech Republic.
The 21-year-old, part of a six-man British squad at this latest round of the UCI U23 Nations’ Cup, finished eleven seconds behind overall winner David Gardu of France.
Geoghegan Hart started the Course de la Paix with ninth place on the opening 134km stage between Jesenik and Rymarov, following a sprint finish involving more than 90 riders, and won by Austria’s Daniel Auer – with teammate Oliver Wood placing highest in British colours, finishing fourth.

Saturday’s stage two, a 123km ride from Krnov to Dlouhe Strane, finishing on a gruelling climb, saw Geoghegan Hart as part of a four-man breakaway, with Frenchman Gardu racing away to win the stage by seven seconds, with the young British rider taking second.
In second place in the general classification ahead of the final stage, which started and finished in Jesenik, the London rider finished three seconds behind breakaway race winner Bjorg Lambrecht of Belgium, in the main peloton – to secure an overall podium finish following the three-day event.

There was also a top ten finish for Great Britain Cycling Team’s James Knox – who took sixth overall in the general classification. The British efforts over the weekend secured second place in the team results, two minutes and one second behind winners Italy.
