We caught up with the fast-moving Katie Archibald to pose some of your excellent Twitter questions to the world-record-breaking Great Britain Cycling Team pursuiter.
Katie, along with team-mates Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell, Elinor Barker and Ciara Horne will look to defend Great Britain's European championship team pursuit title in Guadeloupe on Thursday, but before that, we wanted to get behind the aero helmet and find out what makes the charismatic flying Scot tick.
@BritishCycling @_katiearchibald Will we be seeing you racing on the road at some stage & which race would you love to ride ? #AskArchibald
— Christine Matthews (@MaidinWales) October 10, 2014
Katie: Hopefully next year I'll be riding a lot with Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International and I would love to do the women's Tour of Britain.
@BritishCycling @_katiearchibald Are you going to be riding tuesday @mrtl_track league and battering us old blokes? #AskArchibald
— DS Inspire RT (@JerrodHartley) October 9, 2014
Katie: Yeah hopefully. It depends if the old blokes turn up!
#AskArchibald What's your top leg exercises for building up good cycling muscles -apart from getting the miles in on the bike? X
— Amanda Tweedie (@tweediecycles) October 8, 2014
Katie: Getting out of the saddle on the rollers and trying to hold as high a cadence as you can.
Katie, If you can only have one road ride next year and only have one other for company, which route and who would you take? #AskArchibald
— Col (@Simmy1903) October 8, 2014
Katie: I'd go to the Campsie Fells, up the Crow Road and it would be with Charlene Joiner.
@BritishCycling @_katiearchibald When was the last time you had a Nando's? #AskArchibald
— martin (@quevega) October 8, 2014
Katie: The last day of nationals - Danni Khan had free chicken on her Nando's card.
@BritishCycling #AskArchibald who's your favourite housemate?
— Rosie Blount (@RosieBlount) October 8, 2014
Katie: Danni Khan, because she's the only one that doesn't give me abuse over Twitter!
What training do you do for the pursit #AskArchibald
— Billy macDonald (@billymacdon) October 8, 2014
Katie: For the team pursuit, it sounds a bit stupid but we pursuit, over and over again! You get to know each other's routine. You'll set a target lap split and basically work your way up. You lift the calf and one day you can lift the bull.
With the individual pursuit you're usually travelling at a lower cadence so the kind of work we do would be at about 110rpm whereas the team pursuit stuff we're about 120. We do some lactate tolerance stuff on the turbo.
@ScottishCycling @BritishCycling what events are you riding in? #AskArchibald #TrackEuros
— Lindsey ☺ (@blinklindsey) October 8, 2014
Katie: It could all change at the last minute but I'm preparing for the team pursuit, points race and individual pursuit.
@BritishCycling #AskArchibald Same question I always ask elite cyclists: when was the last time you fixed a puncture?
— Primly Stable (@PrimlyStable) October 8, 2014
Katie: Because of bad weather it was only a few days ago actually! About three days ago - Elinor had a little gas canister so it took about two seconds!
@BritishCycling #AskArchibald when are you going to wash your dishes?!
— Elinor Barker (@elinorbarker) October 8, 2014
Katie: There's this bowl of porridge - she basically ruined my breakfast, put loads of cinnamon in my porridge and we're now in a stand-off as to who is going to wash up this bowl! It's disgusting. I'm not washing it up, basically...
