Stone wins UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup

Great Britain’s David Stone took overall victory in the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup with wins in the time trial and road race in Matane, Canada securing the title.

London Paralympic gold medallist Stone, riding in the T2 classification, finished 24 seconds ahead of Italian Giogio Farroni in the time trial and added the road race honours with a solo acceleration in the last five kilometres of the 29.5-kilometre course.

Lora Turnham and pilot Corinne Hall added another gold for Great Britain in the women's BVI tandem time trial, finishing 55 seconds ahead of the Paralympic pursuit champion’s New Zealand.

The men’s C3 time trial was won by the USA's Joe Berenyi, winning by over 50 seconds to second place Glenn Johanssen from Norway. Britain’s Darren Kenny ended in 11th, one minute and 27 seconds off the win.

On Thursday, the 2013 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships begin in Canada.
