Eastlands Velo has recently been accepted as a registered Bikeability provider, following the club's desire to offer their riders not only Go-Ride sessions but the chance to learn life-long skills of safe cycling on the road. This innovative piece of club development aims to provide the club's riders with the confidence to ride their bike whether it’s for transport, leisure or sport.

The first two level one bikeability sessions, were held at the National Cycling Centre during July and the demand from the Eastlands club riders was high, with both youth riders and and adults taking advantage of the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to ride safely on today's roads. All of the riders who took part achieved the required outcomes and passed Level 1, and are now looking forward to attending a Level 2 course soon.

The club currently has one National Standard Instructor, who can deliver all three levels of training, with the hope to attract more funding to allow other coaches to become trained up and get involved with the cycle training aspect of the club.

The club decided to run their Bikeability Scheme in line with British Cycling’s format and, with encouragement and support from British Cycling, were able to successfully register as a Bikeability provider.
