HETHERSETT HAWKS / SWINTON & CO staged their last home match of the season and with perfect conditions and a good racing track it was a fitting end to the season. Four separate matches for the East Anglian Championships were held and all produced entertaining racing. The Under-10s was won by British Champion Lewis Brinkhoff from Kesgrave, who was unbeaten, as the Suffolk riders domiated. Alfie Nixon finished 11th with 9 points with Giles Awbery in 14th place with 4 points.
Norfolk got some respite in the Under-13s with their County Champion Mason Parkins totally dominating the event with a maximum. The Under-16s proved to be eventful with three of the leading contenders suffering from exclusions. This left the door open for home rider Ollie Riley who scored 19 points, the same as Ipswich's Matt Hill. The deciding race-off was a fiercely contested affair with lots of passing before Riley held off a last bend thrust from Hill to take the title. Katie Adams rode well in this event to finish 7th with 12 points.
The Seniors and Under-19s were pitched in together and three Under-19 Ipswich riders scooped all the honours - Ashley Hill retaining both titles with a maximum which he secured with a brilliant pass under Lewis Roberts. Olly Buxton was in the thick of the action keeping the crowd entertained and finished 6th with 14 points. Olly Riley scored 10 points after a fall and he was eclipsed by his sister Danni who won her last race to end up with 12 points.
Three Hawks were at Kesgrave for the SE Grand Prix event and Danni Riley won the girls category with Katie Adams 4th. Olly Buxton took second place in the Seniors from the unfavourable outside grid in the final.
