THE JUNIOR EASTER TROPHY 2011

A lovely sunny afternoon was the setting for this popular Junior event sponsored by DASH TROPHIES and the crowd witnessed some super racing from all the riders involved including East Park's Josh Whetton - a tryer if ever I saw one!

The big hitters such as East Parks Danny Garner, Sandwell's Ricky Johnson, Wednesfield's Matt Haddock and Stockport's Jake Read dominated all the heats that they were in and only dropped points when they rode against each other,

Wednesfield's Harry Everiss managed to get two race wins from his outside gates but was not consistent having a last place and a non finish in other races,

You could not have wished for a better climax to the meeting with two riders on 18 points and two riders on 19 points - Johnson & Haddock went into the first run-off to decide who would be 3rd & 4th with Ricky Johnson getting the better of Matt Haddock to take the 3rd spot on the rostrum. That left Danny Garner and Jake Read to battle it out to see who would be the 2011 Junior Easter Trophy Winner and after a very close race Jake Read from Stockport took the chequered flag first.

All the finalist's were presented with trophies on the centre green by Steve Mulinder, proprietor of Dash Trophies.

CHRISTINE ELLIS MEMORIAL INDIVIDUAL CLASSIC

A classic performance in this epic 40 heat individual meeting saw Birmingham based rider Chris Timms storm his way through the field to a 38 points total to win the 2011 Christine Ellis Memorial meeting,

Chris dropped just two points from a possible 40 in his ten races in this unique individual that sees all the riders start from the standard grid positions in the first 20 heats and then all the grid positions are in reverse order in the next 20 heats,

The only riders to take points from Chris on the day were runner up Ben Mould (East Newport) in heat 2 and Chris Jewkes (Wednesfield) in heat 28

Stoke rider Lewis Bates strung together six 2nd places and four 1st places to finish on the rostrium in 3rd spot on 34 points,

As the title of the event suggests there were some classic performances from all of the 16 individual riders taking part and all the riders were presented with trophies at the end from Roger Ellis and his family.

All proceeds from the raffle run during the event will be donated to the Compton Hospice.
