Stockport take the honours in Drew Jackson Memorial

The fourth annual Drew Jackson Memorial trophy Meeting was run off at Wednesfield's Ashmore park track under blue skies. The three team meeting is held to celebrate the life of Andrew Jackson who lost his fight against cancer in 2007 aged 32 years. The three competing clubs, Wednesfield, Sandwell and Stockport are clubs that Drew rode for and the afternoons racing is always run in the true spirit of a memorial meeting although competition is always fierce between the riders.

Two 'seperate' matches are run between seniors and juniors alternating between heats with the points giving a final total from both matches, quite simple to follow really!

Twenty four heats between the seniors and juniors resulted the whole match coming down to the last heat of the day and a victory by one point which gave Stockport the overall win for their first time in the event.Wednesfield's Lee Aris was the only rider on the day to take 4 wins and maximum points but it was encouraging to see the junior teams show how the sport has developed during the last few years, Wednesfield's Jordon Holdcroft, Sandwell's Ricky Johnson and Stockport's Jake Read all put in good rides and probably were the pick of the day.

Results

JUNIORS: STOCKPORT 83 POINTS / WEDNESFIELD 82 POINTS / SANDWELL 59 POINTS

SENIORS: STOCKPORT 88 POINTS / WEDNESFIELD 87 POINTS / SANDWELL 63 POINTS
