British Team Championships Quarter Final - Stoke v Heathersett

5th July 2009, Stoke CSC

Report and Images: Andy Whitehouse

Photographer Andy Whitehouse was at Stoke to capture the British Team Championships Quarter Final match between Stoke Whiterock and Heathersett.

Stoke Whiterock took victory from Hethersett 100-78 at a very dusty Smallwood track. Strong riding from both teams gave the small crowd some tight racing and the result probably didn't show how close the meeting was,but Stoke proved the stronger on the day and rode themselves into the semi final of the British Team Championship.

Above: No, they're not playing Twister. The Heathersett rider in blue tries in vain to avoid the Stoke rider who's just lost his rear wheel on the dusty track. There comes a point when you know when you're going down - a point which is demonstrated vividly here and in the Crash Gallery which you'll find at the top of the page, where you can see the crash unfold, frame by uncomfortable frame.

Above: Lazying on a sunny afternoon? Not for long...

Above: With a semi final place up for grabs, the racing was as hot as the weekend weather. Total commitment etched on the faces of riders from both teams.

Above and below - more action from the day's racing - for the full gallery of 51 images, check out the Main Gallery link at the top of the page.
