British Cycling can today confirm the dates and venues for the 2022 national cycle speedway calendar.

This year’s British Club Championships will take place over the weekend of 11 - 12 June in Poole, while the British Individual Championships will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (27 - 29 August) in the Midlands.

The Grand Prix Series will once again be built around national event weekends, which will see men and women competing in the same region and no fixture clashes, increasing the number of opportunities for riders to race.

The Cycle Speedway World Championships in Australia – which were due to take place in December 2022 – have unfortunately been postponed once more due to the current uncertainty and will now take place in in November 2023.

A decision has also been made by the International Cycle Speedway Federation (ICSF) to bring forward the re-arranged European Championships by 12 months, and the event will be staged at Astley and Tyldesley from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July 2022 – a great opportunity for fans and newcomers to the sport to watch top-level international racing here in the UK.

Mike Hack, chair of British Cycling’s cycle speedway commission, said:

"The full national cycle speedway calendar has now been released, with national events spread across the country. After the complete curtailment of national cycle speedway fixtures in 2020, and a truncated programme held in 2021, here's hoping that we can return to a full programme of national competitions in 2022.

“In particular, Scottish club Fife will be hoping that it's third time lucky, as they prepare for their first ever national event staging at Dunfermline, the Home Internationals on Saturday 21 May."
