About our club
North Shields Polytechnic Club (NSP) was founded in 1903 as a walking club and reconstructed 1908. NSP is an Amateur Athletics Club specialising in Track and Field, Road Running; Cross Country; Fell Running and a thriving Triathlon section for both junior and senior members.
The other major focus in summer of course is triathlon and duathlon racing, with members competing at every distance.
North Shield Polytechnic (NSP) has a long and proud heritage in TT and Hill Climbing. We have a strong cohort of experienced racers and many that just like to take part in the many great events throughout the year.
If you are an experienced rider or keen to get involved, NSP could be a great place for you to further develop your skills, or as a beginner somewhere for you to learn from our existing members
More recently, we have formed NSP Cycling Team, part of the North Shields Polytechnic family. The team is open to Adults and Junior riders, although our focus is on developing our Juniors to be the best they can whilst ensuring we keep it fun.
As the Poly is one big family, we will be working very closely with the Tri section to support our junior multisport athletes, providing them with additional sessions and training in order to develop this discipline.
