About our club

Bristol Pegasus Cycling Club is a friendly and social road cycling club in the north of Bristol, enjoying the varied and exciting road bike riding we have to offer in the area.

We operate as a British Cycling affiliated club, with current membership fees of £12 per year / £6 half-year.
Initial information about the club can be found on our British Cycling club page or our external-facing Facebook page. We also have a private Facebook for group chats and ride planning, plus a Strava members group so you can compare times and experiences after your ride.

### Rides and more ###

Most of our meet-ups are via the 9:30AM-start Sunday group rides, which always include a stop for lunch around midway on the route.

Rides are usually planned for around 50 miles and can lead us to Clevedon, Chew, Bath, the Cotswolds, the Severn Valley and into Wales, so can vary from flat to very hilly. We try to stay as a group on the flat, but may split on longer climbs and re-group at the top, with no-one left behind.

We usually start our rides at the Bradley Stoke Willowbrook Centre north of Bristol, outside Greggs / Costa. Any exceptions to this as a starting point will be made clear for that week’s ride.

### Joining Bristol Pegasus ####

Bristol Pegasus is a welcoming and growing club that strives to be inclusive to road cyclists of all backgrounds, who may have developed in interest in road cycling but are looking for the enjoyment and experience that riding in a group can bring.

Anyone wishing to come along at the club can either contact Steve at pegasuscc20@gmail.com or (if you are feeling brave!) check out our next ride details and come along 10 minutes before our Sunday ride-start time to introduce yourself.

We’re happy for prospective new members to come along a few times to get the feel of the club.

To ride with us, you will need
- A serviceable bike, preferably with road-bike style tyres
- A bike helmet (it's a club rule!)
- Contact details for next-of-kin, and during COVID period we'll also need your contact details in any case
- After the initial "taster session" period is over - 3rd party insurance cover. Current members use either British Cycling or Cycling UK membership which covers this requirement

As a small but enthusiastic club, we currently ride in two groups – the main group riding at around 14-15 miles an hour, and the fast group which rides at 15 -17 miles an hour depending on route.

Unfortunately we’re not in a position to take beginners at this point, so we ask that new joiners feel comfortable riding 40-50 miles at or near the pace of either of the two groups before coming along.

We are an adults-only club at present, so all members need to be 18 years or older
