Winter events include Turbo Training sessions and Club Runs organised from the Mountnessing HQ. Why the Shaftesbury? - after all London was and still is a long way from Dorset. Well the Hall where they first met was founded by Lord Shaftesbury, the 7th Earl, and the Club was supported by and is named after him. Not only has the name remained unchanged all these years but the Club Colours of Cardinal and Black were chosen in 1890 and only the Gold trimmings have been added since.
