About our club

Are you looking for some company in the saddle?
---
Would you quite like to join a bike club, but you’re worried that bike clubs are elitist and hardcore, cater only for the superfit and the crazily dedicated, and have no time for developing the fitness and skills of newcomers?
---
Well, we've probably all been there at some point in time, which is why we founded VC Glasgow South in 2008 as an inclusive cycling club with a clear focus upon active participation and progression for all members. We are very keen on competition, however our club is about much more than bike racing.
---
VCGS members are very easy to identify when in the saddle and are very welcoming to newcomers. You'll spot us out on the road (or on the track or on a trail) on every day of the week, right throughout the entire year - training rides, social rides, road racing, TTing, track racing, cyclocross, gravel, cyclosportives, etc.
---
A popular entry point into VCGS for newcomers is via one of our two Sunday social rides, when we gear down and place extra emphasis on the social aspects of cycling. The average speed is typically around 15 mph, the destinations are varied and interesting, and the cycling duration is usually 2-3 hours (the shorter Sunday ride, starting at 10:00 a.m.) or 3-4 hours (the longer Sunday ride, starting at 9:00 a.m.). These Sunday social rides are scheduled every weekend, and normally start from either Newton Mearns or Eaglesham Cross (although some other start points are used too) - check our Forum for more details about the routes, distances, etc.
---
Our Forum is free to use, however you will have to register before access is granted.
---
In the Summer months we organise and run a very popular club-confined TT series (Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m., A77), and are out in force for a Thursday evening multi-club chaingang (also on the A77; start time 6:30 p.m., moving to 7:00 p.m. by around the end of April).
---
In the Winter months, we have a training ride on Tuesday evenings (8:00 p.m., East Kilbride) and participate in a multi-club chaingang on Saturday mornings (9:00 a.m., from Newton Mearns).
---
We are very active on Zwift too - weekly VCGS meet-ups. See our Forum for further details.
---
Check out our Website, Forum, Twitter feed or Facebook page for further details about our rides and routes and club activities. You can find links to our Forum/Twitter/Facebook on our homepage - vcglasgowsouth.co.uk
---
The annual membership cost is £25 per year for seniors, £15 for students/over-65/unemployed (payable via our British Cycling page). We invite you to join us for a handful of introductory rides before you consider taking out an annual membership, and encourage you to get in touch if you have any questions.
---
Arguably best of all, membership of VCGS (a.k.a. the Lime Green Machine) entitles you to wear the classiest lycra in Scotland (if not in the UK!). Our cycling kit is manufactured and supplied by Bioracer.
---
VCGS is proudly sponsored by Dales Cycles.
---
We look forward to you joining us in the wheels!
