About our club
Velo Club Godalming Haslemere is the result of the merging of VC Godalming and Rother Valley Cycling (based in Haslemere) in about 2006. Those clubs grew from groups of mates having a laugh while cycling together, and the ethos at VCGH remains one of inclusivity and fun.
As a Community Amateur Sports Club, we are committed to offering opportunities to a wide range of different abilities, from the novice who has bought a first bike to try and get in shape, to the seasoned cat 2 racer who wants to give it their all at the Surrey League summer series. All we ask is that everyone is prepared to put in some effort.
We are a very active club with a wide variety of weekly activities depending on the time of year, from chain-gang rides, ladies-only rides, weekly hillclimbs, winter cx rides and trips away. At the core of our calendar is our weekend club riding at all levels from introductory (12-13mph / 19-21kph) to pacy (18-22mph / 29-35kph), usually with a café stop en route.
We have an active race team spanning novice to cat 2 riders, including a new women's team, and we promote a road race in the Surrey League in June. We also have a group of dedicated time-trialists and run our own short season of club time-trials through the summer on a local sporting course. And then there are a whole lot of people who are equally dedicated to cycling for its health-giving benefits and sociability.
New from 2017 is the VCGH Jets, our BC Go-Ride club dedicated to providing skills coaching and racing opportunities for 6-12 year olds in a traffic-free environment.
Our Facebook Group and Strava Club are always buzzing, and our website is kept up to date with our ride schedule and latest news.
We look forward to hearing from you.
