The 2016 Revolution Series begins on Saturday 17 September at the National Cycling Centre with a number of British riders – including Olympic heroes – set to be in action.

Ed Clancy, Owain Doull, Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker make their return after Rio while young British riders will also take to the boards in Great Britain Cycling Team and Team Breeze colours.

Champions League

The Revolution Series has undergone a format change in 2016 – over the three weekends of the competition in Manchester and Glasgow in September and October, teams will attempt to qualify for the Champions League.

This new competition pits the best British teams against eight of the leading WorldTour professional teams in Paris, Manchester and London in November and December to determine the best track cycling team in the world.

Fresh from winning gold on their Olympic debuts in the team sprint, Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker will race in Manchester, representing Podium Ambition p/b Club La Santa and Matrix Fitness respectively.

Some of the British Olympic stars of the future are also set to compete in the women’s endurance events, with Emily Kay, Dani Kahn and Abbie Dentus representing Great Britain Cycling Team while Megan Barker, Melissa Lowther and Emily Nelson will wear Team Breeze colours.

In the men’s endurance events, two of the men’s team pursuit line-up in Brazil will go head-to-head as JLT Condor’s Ed Clancy and Owain Doull of Team Wiggins go from teammates to rivals.

Seven riders have been selected to represent Great Britain Cycling Team in the men’s sprint events, including a number of riders who competed at the recent UEC Track Juniors/U23 European Championships and UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships.

Among them, Olympic reserve Ryan Owens will race in Manchester, as will his European under-23 team sprint winning teammates Jack Carlin and Joe Truman.
