Irvine | Saturday 26th - Sunday 27th October
Round three of the HSBC UK Cyclo-cross National Trophy returned to the Beach Park in Irvine for a full weekend of racing. Despite some heavy showers, the sun shone and glorious west coast provided the perfect backdrop for some epic cyclo-cross action.
Saturday saw the kids and veterans race around the fun and challenging course. Scottish riders were would in force with many of the local clubs represented. Sunday brought the junior and senior races where competition was fierce. A win for Peebles CC lad Corran Carrick-Anderson was very popular with the crowds, while Scot Rory Mcquire held on for third. Anna Flynn took the win in the junior women's race which was third overall for the senior women. Despite tough competition from Charlie Aldridge in the senior men's race, it was Dutch rider Goss van der Meer who won the overall.
A huge thank you to the organisers who once again put on a brilliant show for those who travelled many hours to race this now famous course.

Stiring Bike Club alumni Jenny Holl took the British National Madison title with team mate Anna Docherty on Saturday evening. In the 125-lap women’s race, Holl and Docherty’s timing and strength on the sprints were the difference, as all teams struggled to make any potentially lap-gaining attacks stick. The duo built a lead steadily over the race, scoring consistently to build a lead of as many as eight points.
Holl said, “It was really good. We train together all the time so we know how each other ride, and we really nailed it as a pair, and really worked to our strengths.”
In the men's event, young Scottish rider Matti Dobbins took silver with his partner Alex Haines and Alfie George the bronze with Max Rushby.
