Round 1 report:
On Saturday Round 1 of the Scottish Cycling Women's Road Race Series, supported by Dales Cycles took place in Glasgow, organised by Glasgow Green Cycling Club.
Strong winds, snow and hail showers didn't deter 29 women taking to the start line. Attacks came from Karena O’Hanlon (Leslie Bike Shop) and Lynsey Curran (Dooleys) but they were brought back. After 32 miles there was a bunch sprint. Track rider Flora Gillies (Project 51) took the win from Emily Middleditch (Deeside Thistle CC) and time trial specialist Lynsey Curran (Dooleys) in her first ever road race.

On Saturday Round 1 of the Scottish Cycling Women's Road Race Series, supported by Dales Cycles will take place in Glasgow, orgainsed by Glasgow Green Cycling Club. Glasgow Green Cycling Club have made some exciting changes to the course this year with the race consisting of 12 laps of a 2.7 mile circuit which runs on the A77 just south of Glasgow.
31 women have already signed up to compete this weekend with more expected to enter on the day. Favorites to take the top spot include World Masters Pursuit Bronze Medallist Peggy Series (Team Thomson’s Cycles), Natalie Munro (Moray Firth CC) and Scottish Cycling Scratch Race Champion Flora Gilles (Project 51). Other likely contenders include Emily Middleditch (Deeside Thistle), Alexa Mair (Deeside Thistle) and Lynne Wardrop (Ayr Roads CC).
In addition to the Glasgow round of the Series, a further 5 events will take place across the country in Inverness, Falkirk, Dundee, Banchory and Aviemore.
