Event Date: 10am Sunday 13th March 2011

Typical sunny action from the race during the 2009 edition

The 2011 Jock Wadley Road Race is shaping up to be another top level race similar to last year. The organiser has just received 6 entries from Rapha Condor Sharp, adding another star team to an already exciting list of riders.

The race is a National B category although with assistance from the NEG (National Escort Group) and the Essex Police Accredited Marshals will be run with the safety of a Premier Category race for the 80 rider field. Neutralised from Alderman Blaxill School, Colchester racing will begin at Layer de la Haye Cross Roads followed by 12 laps of the reservoir course with the usual finish outside Layer Water Treatment Works about 1.40pm. Total race distance is 84 miles.

Dean Downing, Kristian House, Casey Munroe, Zak Dempster together with last year's winner Jon Tiernan Locke are the Rapha riders although back in January 6 young riders from the "100%Me" team entered and 6 members of the "Team Raleigh" squad.

Another interesting team entry is that of "Forme Procycliste San Lamere" (Based at Leicester despite the Spanish title) containing Robert Orr, Jack Adams, Will Fox,Dexter Gardias and Adam Rayner. Sigma Sport are here in strength along with Team Corley while Essex based "Twenty 3c Orbea" led by twice winner Andy Lyons will always put on a great performance. Wil Bergfelt rides for "Motorpoint Pro Racing" this year while Grant Bayton, third last year is with "Wilier/Go Self Drive".

Race Organiser Malcolm Hargreaves of Colchester Rovers Cycling Club said: "Let's hope we get the usual dry, sunny (but usually windy and chilly) weather for this year's race with the winner to take home a trophy,£120-00 and prizes to 20th place."
