A total of 329 youngsters descended upon the National Sports Centre in Douglas, Isle of Man last Tuesday night for round four of Team Royal London 360's youth league.
The novices class got the ten race programme underway, with Edward Teare leading the field home for another comfortable victory. Sophia Littlewood took the runners-up spot ahead of Sam Cunningham, Harvey Coole and Mia Littlewood, who pipped Luca Moretta for fifth.
In the born 2005 & later grouping Harry Kneen got the better of Mairi Harrison and Niall Colquitt for his second successive win. Zachary Dowson was a lonely fourth and Thomas Ross edged out the fast finishing Chloe Comaish in the bunch sprint for fifth. Drystan Sewell, Maddie Butterworth, Frank Kinnish and Bradley Kneen completed the top ten.
Dillon Dowson came out on top in a close battle with Zac Walker for the number one spot in the born 200 event. Ralf Holden held off Joshua Dudley, James Devereau and Nathan Slack in the gallop for third, while Cameron Dudley came through in the closing stages to grab seventh from Mia Worthington, Joshua Kelly and Harvey Lawrence.
Having missed the previous round due to a pre-race tumble, Percy Hampton bounced back to score his second victory in the born 2003 category. Jake Wilson ousted Matthew Black and Jonty Bregazzi for second place and Jack Christian passed leading girl Darcy Cain on the final lap to claim fifth.
Isle of Man Youth Tour winner Charlie Gibson stamped his authority on the born 2002 age group, attacking from the gun and gradually extending his lead all the way to the finish. James Harrison was a clear second and Will Corkill maintained a safe third ahead of Aaron Lund and Nicholas Kissack, who were fourth and fifth. First girl Blae Cain outsprinted Jack Whitelegg to secure sixth.
Max Walker took the chequered flag well clear of the field in the born 2001 class to strengthen his lead in the overall standings. Juan Kneen overcame Adam Scarffe in the fight for second and Tyler Cain held off Emma Draper in the dash for fourth.
An injection of speed on the last lap enabled Ben Christian to escape from his seven breakaway companions and grab the spoils in the born 2000 class. Thomas Bostock also stole a march on his rivals to bag second place ahead of Sam Batey, who beat Joseph Corkish to the line for third. Lucas Mudie was fourth followed by Thomas Longden, Adam Kelly and Sean Maxwell.
Matthew Draper and Breeshey Cain set the pace in the born 1999-97 three lapper, finishing first and second respectively. Brothers Rory and Liam McCann were third and fourth ahead of Phoebe Ferguson and Ben Cunningham, who filled the final spot on the top six leader board.
In the under 12 racing bikes Owen Dudley took the honours, outgunning breakaway partners Matthew Draper, Michael Moss, William Draper and Conor Davies in the final sprint. Eleanor Davies picked up the girls' prize in 12th place.
Jake Kelly was too strong for Alex Haddock and Nicholas Corlett in the sprint at the end of the under 16's event. Leon Mazzone lost contact with the three leaders at half distance, but managed to stay clear of the chasing pack to salvage fourth. Matthew Davies led fellow chasers Callum Donnell, Matthew Bostock, Matthew Draper and Jamie Everitt home for fifth place, with Eleanor Stokoe the best girl in a very good tenth position.
