Can your cycling club or group help inspire people to cycle?

Whilst restrictions have limited what we normally would do in terms of rides together we have seen a massive number of people return to cycling or even learn to ride for the first time.

To capitalise on this huge opportunity, we launched our Choose Cycling campaign this week. As the country begins to ease of out lockdown we are asking people to Prepare, Choose and Cycle, as we want to see as many people riding across Wales.

During this campaign we want to reach out to Welsh clubs and groups so you can work with us to help engaged and encourage these new people who may be trying cycling for the first time. The current situation has given our sport a fantastic opportunity to support and encourage these people to remain engaged with cycling and who knows, perhaps when restrictions lift they will become a member of your club or group.

If you are reading this and are not part of a club or group or would like some more information, you can click here or you can become a supporter of Welsh Cycling and we’ll send you some further information about clubs in Wales.

Also, members of affiliated clubs may be entitled to a half price British Cycling membership.

As such, nobody knows the local cycling area better than you the club, as such we would love to engage with you to offer and promote short and easy rides that new people and families could take part in, which can help prepare them for club and group rides when restrictions are lifted.

With this in mind we have developed this simple form to help local people find local routes to ride and would love your input in telling us about them. We are looking for routes of anything between 1-15 miles either on suitable roads for novice riders or completely traffic free to allow them to build confidence during these quiet times on the roads.

If you are able to use a GPS device to map the route and forward the GPX file we will then run this through Relive to create an interactive map. Any photos you take along the route could then also be added and give an idea of what the ride would be like.

To start simply open the form and together lets help Wales to Choose Cycling.
