Welsh Cycling are extremely pleased to launch our new Go-Ride series for young bike riders which will run throughout Wales, as we build up to the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With Tokyo fast approaching, the Games will serve as fantastic inspiration to race your bike and being an Olympic year this is the perfect opportunity for kids to get out on their bikes and try cycling.

Welsh Cycling CEO, Anne Adams-King said: “We’re really excited to be launching this exciting new Go Ride series. After going out to survey and asking our clubs and coaches what they wanted we feel this is a great way to help inspire our young people who wish to ride their bikes.

“With it being an Olympic year, it’s the perfect opportunity to roll this out across Wales and we’re looking forward to seeing many youngster taking part and getting involved in cycling,” said Adams-King.

At the end of 2019 we went out with our Welsh Cycling Youth Competition survey where we asked parents and coaches how we could help with offering more accessible racing for youngsters.

The results showed that coaches and parents felt the biggest draws of racing was making sure the events were fun, that spending time with their friends was important and that there was more than one opportunity to race – so after collecting all the data we are proud to launch this new Go Race series which give youngsters across the country plenty of opportunities to try cycling.

Working closely with our youth clubs and our HSBC UK Go Ride coaches our events are designed to encourage young bike riders into competition.

The events are focused around skills, fun and an introduction into competition across disciplines. Events can typically be ridden on any bike, and are at a variety of venues around Wales. They are affordable events as we look to continue to Inspire Wales to Cycle.
