This November, Breeze in Wales will be 2 years old. Since the huge success of our Newport pilot project in 2014, the programme has gone from strength to strength. We now have over 150 Breeze Champions, running hundreds of rides each year.

Breeze is a female only cycling programme, aimed at helping thousands of women, across the UK, feel confident and comfortable about going on a ride. Led by women for women, our trained Breeze Champions organise free, local bike rides throughout the country, every week. These rides are aimed at providing a nurturing environment in which ladies can gain confidence in their cycling abilities.

Rides range from just a couple of miles up to a maximum of fifty, there are speeds to suit all abilities, and they often start/stop at a coffee shop, so that participant can have a drink and a chat.

Thanks to the wonderful work our dedicated Champions do, during the last 2 years, more than 4,500 opportunities to ride with Breeze have been created in Wales.

This year we have also seen the introduction of Women friendly cycling hubs, including Coed y Brenin in North Wales, Hafren in Mid Wales, and next month we will be launching our first Hub in South Wales at the 14 Locks Visitors centre in Newport.

Our cycling hubs are places where women can meet up for a Breeze ride, take part in coaching sessions, attend a maintenance course, and receive incentives from partners who support our programme.
