Go-Ride Under-16 Racing at National Mountain Bike Series

British Cycling will be staging Go-Ride Racing events for Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 rider at every round of this year's British Mountain Bike Series.

Go-Ride Racing is British Cycling's entry-level programme for riders under the age of 16, who are new to competitive racing. These events will provide young, novice riders with a great platform to experience competitive action and build their confidence, skill and experience. Each event will offer riders a time trial and mass start cross-country event, plus input from coaches. At the British Mountain Bike Series, all you have to do is turn up on the day, register and ride!

Over the course of the series, young people throughout the country will be able to get their first taste of off-road competitive action - and it is an opportunity not to be missed according to Dan Small, British Cycling's Development Manager for Coaching and Competition. He said: "Go-Ride Racing encourages riders to develop their skills and progress from entry-level events to regional races and beyond. Being able to race in the same surroundings as elite athletes in such a unique way will be a great inspiration for so many young riders."

Key Information

Race Format: 1 lap Time Trial followed by a mass start age group race

Race Times: 10.30 - 12.00 ( Under 12, 14 & 16) - there will be more racing at 2pm depending on the numbers of riders signing on.

What happens? - The session will include 1 lap time trial (you do a timed solo lap), Mountain Bike race (everyone racing at the same time) plus coaching from our expert coaches.

Entry Fee: Free (funding has been provided to cover the cost of this event)

How to find us - Look out for the Go-Ride Racing tent and banners (see pic above) and come along and register from 9.30 onwards.
