2010 British BMX Series - Official Information

British Cycling are proud to announce that for 2010 Corinne Walder will be producing video at every round of the British BMX Series, the British BMX Championships and select rounds of the UCI Supercross. We've got the full story and comment from British Cycling's BMX Co-ordinator, Roger Wilbraham, after the jump.

Influenced by the development of mountain bike movies in the past decade, the increasing trend of video reportage and the suitability of BMX racing to be packaged into a video edit, British Cycling's BMX Commission and BMX Co-ordinator Roger Wilbraham have taken the decision to employ a full-time videographer to promote BMX racing in the UK.

British Cycling have not only secured rights to use the final production on British Cycling Online, but will also send the package from each race to other cycling websites, demonstrating a vision to promote BMX racing - the most accessible strand of cycle sport - to the widest possible audience.

Excited about this development, Roger Wilbraham commented on the opportunities this self-promotion of British Cycling events would create for BMX, which debuted at the Beijing Olympics and is set to make another appearance at the London Games in 2012.

"British Cycling's BMX Commission have been experimenting with various forms of promotion over the last few years and I'm happy to confirm that after investigating several options, we have made out decision to move into financing web based video productions. Choosing Corinne Walder to produce work for us was an easy decision to take - with great film making credentials and the motivation and vision to progress the image of the sport."

Freelance photographer and reporter Richard Robotham will continue to produce content for the British Cycling Online, once again positioning the National Govening Body's website as the premier source of news and reaction from British BMX racing.

The opening round of the British BMX Series takes place this weekend at Cheddar, and you'll be able to watch the first video from Corinne and check out the reports from the weekend's action right here.
