Lewis Hipkins Signed By Meybo
Posted December 7 2009
It's been a few years since a young British BMX rider has been signed up by one of Europe's top teams. That's all about to change, as Derbyshire's Lewis Hipkins gets a new opportunity for 2010.
Lewis was invited to Holland to Meybo's end of year party so he could meet his new team mates and to his surprise Willi, Berty and Jorg of Meybo presented him with 2 specially made race shirts from main sponsors TVE Sport. 10 year old Lewis had a great time and made friends with his new team mate, 11 year old Noah who speaks English.
On the Sunday, Lewis tested the 2009 Expert Team Bike and really liked it. In January 2010, it's back over to Holland for Lewis. The new 2010 Team Meybo bikes and new team Kit will be available, so it'll be more track time and the official team photo shoot.
Joining Lewis next year will be one of the strongest line ups imaginable consisting of World and European Champions. Team Meybo Bmx will be a team of 6 in 2010. Lewis' new team mates are:
Donny Van Osch Current World number 2 and European number 1
Noah Van Essen Number 3 in Holland
Mike Klerkx Multiple Dutch Champion and former World Champion
Merel Smulders Current World number 1 and European number 2
Laura Smulders Current World number 2 and European number 1
