Following yesterday’s announcement that – in-line with the most recent UK Government advice – all British Cycling sanctioned cycling activity will be suspended until, initially, April 30, the organisation can provide further clarification on the Manchester rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.

The event, rounds 5 and 6 of the 2020 series, was due to take place at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre over the weekend of April 18 and 19.

In conjunction with cycling’s governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), British Cycling can confirm that the event has been postponed, with both parties intending to work together to find a revised date, should the Coronavirus situation and subsequent Government advice allow us to do so.

The event was set to be a key opportunity to secure points in the international rankings which would also contribute to Tokyo 2020, and efforts will be made – where appropriate and consistent with Government advice – to ensure riders are still afforded that chance at a later date.

We recognise how disappointing this decision may be for riders and fans alike, however we – along with the rest of the sporting community – will be continuing to follow Government advice in what are truly unprecedented times.

Spectators who have purchased a ticket will automatically receive a full refund; British Cycling is working alongside Ticketmaster to ensure that this is process is conducted as efficiently as possible.
