Rounds five and six of the 2018 HSBC UK | BMX National Series takes place this weekend with the riders set for action in Gravesend.

Cyclopark will host rounds five and six of the HSBC UK | BMX National Series this weekend.

Rounds three and four have been rescheduled for 29 - 30 September in Leicester after being postponed due to severe weather conditions in April.

How the series works

Riders are awarded points based on their results in each round (up to a maximum of 100 points per round). A rider’s best seven results from the 12 rounds in the series makes up their total. The rider with the highest total in their respective category is crowned HSBC UK | BMX National Series champion.

Superclass

After a strong performance at the opening rounds, second placed in the overall standings, Eddie Moore (Ultimate UK) will be hoping to replicate his performance and take overall lead.

Current series leader, Kye Whyte will not take to the start line at Cyclopark. The Great Britain Cycling Team Senior Squad rider, in action earlier this month at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Belgium, will have his eye firmly set on making the team selection for the UCI BMX World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan in June.

With no representation from the Great Britain Cycling Team Senior Squad or Development Squad, fourth place Ashley Binner (DC Cycles) will be looking to take advantage and secure as many vital points as possible to close in on Moore.

Championship women

Second placed in the HSBC UK | BMX National Series 2017, Charlotte Greenwood will be in attendance this weekend chasing down first place currently held by 2017 winner Bethany Shriever.

Shriever will not take part after her maiden win at the round five of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Belgium two weeks ago with attention focused firmly on Baku.

Lauren Stack (Burnham BMX Club), currently placed third will be looking to pose a big threat to the competition including Greenwood.

Elissa Bradford and Eleana Stafford from the Great Britain Cycling Team Development Squad will be taking part in their first rounds of the 2018 series.

Venue
