World Road Race Champion Lucy Garner is the star entry amongst a packed entry list of almost 200 riders with only one week to go until entries close for the Midland Cyclo Cross Championship to be held at the Shrewsbury Sports Village on Sunday December 4th. The Shrewsbury Sports Village is also the venue for the National Trophy Final on January 15th.

The East and West Midlands are proving to be a dominant force in Cyclo Cross and so this Midland Championship which combines entries from these two regions plus Lincolnshire will see some very exciting racing.

In the Women's race, World Champ Garner will be up against National Champion Hannah Payton plus experienced riders in ex National Champions Isla Rowntree and Louise Robinson. Robinson of course represented Great Britain at the Sydney Olympic Games.

In the Youth races Danny Fox who leads the National Trophy Series looks to be favourite at the moment with a likely challenge to come from Chris Welburn. In the Girls race Sarah Lomas and Grace Garner look set for a battle and in the under 14 category William Gascoyne and Ewan Grivell - Mellor look set to resume their National Trophy tussles.

In the senior race it looks like local rider Luke Grivell-Mellor will be hoping for a win for the Mid Shropshire Wheelers promoting club before he says farewell and embarks on his Pro career with Rapha-Condor-Sharp in 2012 with challenges likely from Tom Payton and Neil Hayward.

A massive entry is in so far for all the veteran categories but strangely none of the expected big favourites in Darren Atkins and Ian Wright so a possible surprise winner here.

Entries close on November 14th - Full Event Details
