Lloyds National 4X R3-R4: Afan 4X Track (17-18 May)
As the National Series rolled into South Wales, it was Dan Cay who took a maiden Series victory on Saturday afternoon, from Ian Forsyth, Duncan Ferris and Tom Bell in the elite men’s race.
It was more of the same on Sunday as Cay made it two from two after a professional ride. Daniel Wagstaff and Ben Jones held on for the other podium places, while Tom Bell crossed the line fourth after a battling display.
In a quality 17 – 29 senior women’s race, Katherine Byng rode a flawless race to take the win on day one, with Katherine Oldfield battling with Morgan Haslam all the way, with Oldfield holding her opponent off for second place.
Byng made it two from two on Sunday with another superb performance. In second it was Silvi Vargas who bounced back from missing the final on Saturday, gaining valuable series points. Oldfield had consistency all weekend and took a deserved third overall.
